I can do all things through Christ Jesus Who strengthens me.
“Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him.” Psalm 127:3
Since God values children so highly, by referring to them as gifts from Him, it is certainly our bounden duty, as a Sunday School to nurture them spiritually and in the best possible manner, so that they are protected from the wiles of Satan. Hence our motto is:
“Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Looking back over the years, 16th March 1979 was certainly an auspicious day in the calendar of the Sunday School. The late Very Rev. M. T. Thariyan inaugurated the opening of the C.S.I. Sunday School, with prayer and a short message. Gathered in the nearby hall at 5.30 pm, were 11 students and three teachers. During the course of succeeding years, the numerical growth of the C.S.I. Church has helped in the all-round development and growth of the Sunday School. All along, it was our Lord Almighty who had provided us with the necessary wisdom, courage and strength to work for Him, among the children. With grateful hearts we acknowledge the valuable contributions made by the various parish priests, during their tenure in Dubai.
In addition to the regular Sunday School Anniversary celebrations every year, we also have our children participating in the Talent competitions to promote the hidden talents among our children. We have a Memory Verse competition every year, the sole purpose of which is to ingrain the Word of God in their hearts. Participating in the Inter-Church competition has also become a regular feature now. We are proud to state that during Sunday School Week, it is customary for a Grade 12 student to deliver the message during the Church Service. It is primarily the Sunday School teachers from the preschoolers to Grade 12 who have been responsible for the Spiritual grooming of our children. Hats off to them for their great sacrifice and devotion to duty.
