Sunday, 4th August, was observed as Laity Sunday, with members of the Laity Fellowship leading various parts of the worship service at the Holy Trinity Church, Dubai.
The sermon was delivered by Mr. Albin Varghese, reflecting on the theme, "Be transformed by renewing your mind". In his message, he reminded the congregation that, it is the duty of the Laity Fellowship to prepare the church in its spiritual journey. This is delivered through prayer, Bible study and assisting in worship, which is what God expects from the laity. The laity should be caring for the needy as part of their social commitment. Finding time for meditating on the word of God, meaningful prayer with family and having an attitude of gratitude is expected from the laity. We need to condition our thoughts and seek God's guidance in our decisions. It really matters what legacy we leave with the next generation, at the end of our life. As we read in Eze. 36:25 ("A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh"), let us pray to God to enable us to transform others by leading a life of prayer and testimony.
Mr. Shibu Samuel delivered the sermon during the worship service at our Fujairah Church, based on Rom. 12:1-2, reflecting on the duties of a believer, offering as a living sacrifice, not conforming to the world, recognising God's will and transforming by the renewal of the mind.
Rev. Raju Jacob, our Vicar, led the Holy Communion Service at both Dubai and Fujairah.
