The Sunday School of CSI Parish, Dubai was inaugurated on 16th March 1979, by the late Very Rev. M.T. Tharian. What began with 11 students and three teachers, has now grown by the Lord’s grace alone, to over 180 students and over 20 teachers. Mrs. Shantha Simon has been the Headmistress ever since the Sunday School was formed.
Our Sunday School meets on Sundays before the Church service and consists of class time followed by singing and worship, leading to dispersal for church service.
The Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a much-awaited experience for the children. It is a week of much learning, excitement, and spiritual awakening as children willingly submit themselves to the Lord.
We also conduct a Memory Verse Competition, with the sole purpose being to ingrain the Word of God into young hearts. Talent Competitions are also conducted every year to encourage and promote the hidden talents of children within a familiar audience, for the glory of God.
Every year, the Sunday School Week is celebrated with Sunday School Teachers and students leading various parts of the Friday service and Senior Students deliver the Sermon during the Worship Service.
Graduation Ceremony is conducted annually, and Certificates are awarded to Graduating Students during the Worship Service. These students then join the Sunday School as volunteers and help in the various functions of the Sunday School including Teaching.
The year ends with the Sunday School Anniversary which showcases the Talents of kids and prize distribution, which is a time of great joy for the Teachers and students alike.
The Sunday School also ensures that the students develop an attitude of compassion and get them involved in supporting educational needs of the underprivileged children in society through various means.
History testifies that many Sunday School classes helped shape the character of children, especially as they face a world of differing standards and priorities. Yet, our foundation is on Jesus Christ, and we diligently follow our motto “Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
