The Ash Wednesday Holy Communion Service was led by our vicar Rev. Raju Jacob on Wednesday, 5th March, marking the beginning of the Lenten season.
During the Lenten season, Christians observe a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. In some churches, ashes of burned palms are placed in the shape of a cross on the foreheads of believers — a symbol of repentance observed in the Old testament using sackcloth and ashes. Ash Wednesday reminds us that man came from dust and will return to dust.
